Job Role / Responsibilities:
Reporting to Chief Medical Officer, you will be responsible to serve as an advocate for the provision of exemplary medical care and assist Chief Medical Officer in the development of medical staff policies, procedures and practices for the University. You will be responsible for supervising, monitoring and improvement of core departmental processes including medical record reviews, credentialing, legal affairs and complaints.
Other responsibilities will include:
supervise the medical credentialing process with appropriate guidance and supervision of the staff
supervise the process of patient complaints handling in the hospital, through appropriate guidance and supervision and ensure a satisfaction resolution thereof with proper corrective and preventive actions
assist Chief Medical Officer in review and update of medical staff policies, procedures and practices
provision of safe clinical practices which are cost effective through implementation of clinical governance framework and clinical programs
coordinate efficient sharing of common resources such as critical care facilities and diagnostic facilities
serve as a member of Risk Management Forum, Clinical Department QIC, Chief Resident Forum, the Joint Staff Committee, and Credentials Committee and participate in other committees of the hospital
share lessons learned from risk management data (complaints, incidents, quality monitors and sentinel events) with front line health care providers
assisting and providing expertise in institution wide quality initiatives such as ISO 9001:2008 QMS, JCIA and other QI projects
assist Risk Management Forum, Clinical Departmental QIC and Chief Resident Forum as a regular member
participate in Education of the Residents/ staff in Risk Management/ Quality Improvement related topics
lead the legal section of the complaint office to work closely with the Legal Office of AKU, PBSD, Finance for effective and timely resolution of litigations and high risk complaints
assist and advise the Chief Medical Officer in reviewing and updating of Medical staff policies, procedures and standard operating protocols (SOPs)
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:
Medical Graduate from a recognized university & Master’s degree in Health Care/Hospital/Business Management from a reputable national or international university with 8-10 years of management experience preferably in a large hospital setup
professional qualifications or certifications in the areas of Quality Management, Risk Management, and performance improvement
ability to manage diverse environment with focus on client and customer services
ability to analyse, interpret and present clinical data
ability to work under pressure and prioritize and manage workload, manage simultaneous tasks, and meets deadlines within a changing fast-paced environment
well versed in preparing and presenting reports, recommendations, policies and procedures; ability to develop, maintain and coordinate effective relationships with stakeholders, management and employee organizations
proficiency in use of computer packages especially Microsoft Office applications.
