Assistant Manager – On Campus, Housekeeping

Job Role / Responsibilities:

  • You will oversee the Housekeeping Department to ensure the highest standards of cleaning through follow-up and close supervision, as per the Housekeeping policies and procedures.

  • Other responsibilities will include:

  • Assist Manager in developing and implementing annual operational goals of the assigned area which are aligned to the overall departmental goals.

  • Implement effective and efficient flow of services and resources within the function.

  • Work with small teams to ensure that operational goals are realized.

  • Identify issues and take decisions in consultation with Manager in accordance with the policies & procedures.

  • Coordinate with others / Sections / Departments for delivery of the results.

  • Ensure compliance with the applicable quality standards of certifying and accredited bodies

  • Assist manager in managing the provision of effective functional services.

  • Prepare self-development plan in coordination with the immediate supervisor.

  • Undertake activities for continuous professional development in line with the plan.

  • Assist manager in recruitment, retention and development of employees.

  • Assist in recruitment of qualified staff in the department to meet the staffing needs..

  • Assist in implementing development plans to ensure effective development of staff.

  • Provide continuous feedback to staff members to keep them informed of their performance.

  • Adequate availability of staffing in the department.


Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:

  • Graduation.

  • Professional Certification in a relevant field will be an added advantage

  • At least 4 years’ of relevant professional experience.

  • Experience of managing small teams.

  • Ability to understand issues from the client’s perspective and monitors services provided to clients and makes timely adjustments as required.

  • Ability to maintain continuous open and consistent communication with others by supporting messages with relevant data, information, examples and demonstrations.

  • Ability to makes straight - forward decisions based on information that is generally clear and adequate, considering the risks and consequences of action and/or decisions.

  • Ability to establish goals and organizes work by bringing together the necessary resources as well as according to project and time management principles and processes.

  • Ability to assume responsibility for work activities and coordinating efforts as well as seeks others’ input and involvement and listens to their viewpoints. Able to acknowledge the work of others.

  • Ability to regularly share expertise with team members to support continuous learning and improvement and also advises, guides and coaches others by sharing experiences and discussing how to handle current or anticipated concerns.

  • Ability to liaise with others to ensure alignment with the business goals and vision of the organization.
